Early electric shock treatment medicine. Wooden case holds a most bizarre apparatus that would general electricity. Late Victorian and Edwardian snake oil salesmen would promote this as a cure for every ailment, from cancer to schizophrenia. More a torture device and scam then any medicinal value, self proclaimed Doctors hawked these in early medicine shows along with worthless patent remedies. According to watchdog group Quackwatch Electro Diagnostic Devices still defraud patients today, though admittedly, more high tech. We have a different model listed on this site as well. Quackery at it’s best.
