Hard to describe, this paper weight as made to house a C.D.V. carte de visite photograph. The cdv photo would rest well protected from desk top ink stains though. There is a well designed idge for pen or pencil rest. This stationary accessory looks like a 1960 automotive ashtray. It is much older, likly 1890's. It is four inches wide. At first I thought it was a old bird cage feeder seed cup deep research has discovered it's true use.
