Antique birdcage of rare folk art primitive design. This cage circa 1850 is hand made and features hand cut wood and twisted wires. A simple yet effective pull out draw for cleaning, functions through a seed guard ridge surrounding the perimeter . Four turned finials compliment the large wooden knob handle. A most interesting hand cut perch still with the bark attached is testiment to the inginuity of the craftsman who made the mid victorian era cage. It may of held a European Starling or even a red Cardinal as many American song birds were popular captives at that time.
