19th century Veterinarian Ram Scarer. From Ireland this antique Veterinary rarity was used circa 1870 to protect farm animals. Worn by ewes, female sheep this odd Antique medical device would dangle underneath to prevent overly amorous rams from breeding. Looks like a pretty formidable medical method.
Extremely rare, this ram scarer is depicted in Sotheby's treatise, Antique Medical Instruments by Elisabeth Bennion, page 226 item # 16 from the Castle Museum York.
