this strange surgery necessity is quite oddly shaped.
Bathed in an alcohol glycerin like solution, it remains quite the medical oddity.
Perfect for that Macabre Seamstress or Crazy Cat lady.

Antique Anetheisia Ether Merck Fries Bros. Antique Ether with original Fries Brothers Kelene box. Great labels with Merck and Company distributors. Perfect bottle, all original though contents long gone.

Ether or Sweet Vitriol was discovered by Raymundus Lullius a Spanish chemist According to anesthesia-nursing. com a fascinating website for Nurses in 1540 Ether was first manmade by Valarius Cordus a Scientist from Germany and a Swiss Physician Alchemist named Paracelus discovered it's hypnotic effects. W.G. Frobenius a German Scientist changed he name to Ether in 1730.

Though used for every ailment from Scurvy to Lung disorders Ethers first use s an anesthesia was by Dr. Crawford Williamson Long a Maryland Surgeon in 1842. Sadly he did not publish his findings until 1848 which laid the basis for hotly debated patent claims to follow by Dr W.T.G. Morton. His public surgical demonstration and the failure of Nitrous Oxide propelled ether in to international use. The Doctor called it Letheon and his patent application never brought him the financial reward he hoped for.

Large wooden handle on this huge wrought iron ranch necessity.
Vets were at risk from severe bites when examining dentition or dosing bad tasting quack cure medicinals.
Great equestrian Veterinary and farm antique.

Antique Blood Sample Kit Pa. Dept. Health Rare Kimble Glass company Pennsylvania Department Of Health Harrisburg Hospital blood test kits.
Pre War these likely date to 1920's.
In original tubes, these each contain, a hand blown glass sample ampoule, test registration card, razor for cutting rubber hose for blood cultures.
In great condition, one sans cap they are unused and so very rare!
For the appreciative home Dracula, old Vlad never had it so good.
Perfect his and her, Sanguinary Symphony.
Kimble glass started in 1901 merged with Kontes Glass in 1941 and later became part of Gerresheimer Glas.

American Electric Vaporizer 1927 Antique Sickroom medical humidifier.
Dated April 19 1927, this old Vaporizer would be most familiar to Great Grand Mother.
More then just a medical curiosity, this was and still is one of the safest of non steroidal breathing aids.
Likely quite the life saver in Great depression times, many an asthmatic breathed easier with this device.
Rarely surviving intact, the glass reservoir is with out crack or chip, though a few decorative bubbles appear.
Original ceramic heater core, screw top lid and handled base as well as original electric cord with taped Bakelite receptacle.
Light rust, though all is solid and heavy.
A rarely seen tool.
